Can it feel more like fall every day?? I love waking up feeling the very cool breeze coming through our window and the sunshine smiling on us. I woke up thanking God for his provisions and his creation. What a wonderful reminder of what we have been given.
As summer is quickly coming to a close, I am having a hard time letting go of produce that is available during this season. Why can't blueberries be in-season year round? Yes, these are valid questions right? Why can't the beautiful green asparagus stalks be at my beckon call? How I miss that veggie.
Well, I have to be thankful for being an in area of the country that loves harvesting produce for its area. None of this shipping in veggies that are still to green or unripe to enjoy! Give me the sweet peaches next, ya know! Peaches and raspberries are next! YUM!
I say all this because I have recently finished a delicious box of avocados. Avocados can be really hard to come by in the area especially at a great price.
I was recently sent a box of Paradise Grove Avocados to taste and review and boy did I get a treat! This company has been in business since 1981 and as before 2007 they were only catering to selling avocados to restaurants. After 2007 the new owners decided to create a website and start selling their avocados to the public.
The avocados they grow are California Haas Avocados planted in their grove located on 250 acres in the coastal foothills of the Santa Ynez Mountains in Ventura County, California. Forget about the small avocados in stores, these Haas avocados are like none I have tasted.
The company sends the avocados pretty firm in order to allow the buyer to have these avocados ripen in their own time. Paradise Grove harvests their avocados green, retaining its quality through shipment and when received by the buyer. Can you believe they let their avocados harvest until they reach 8 ounces! That is a alot of avocado and lots of flesh too!
I have to say I was quite impatient when I received my avocados. I could have placed them in a paper bag to ripen them much more quickly but I let them run its natural course. ONCE they did ripen I placed them in the fridge and really took my time eating them.
I really did not create any fancy dishes with the avocados except for some smoothies. I had yet to add avocado in my morning smoothies and decided to give these a try. Combined with coconut milk, a little sweetener, spinach and avocado, the smoothies came out SUPER delicious.
I also would just eat the avocado plain with a little salt and olive oil. Why not eat in its simplest form?? It was scrumptious and creamy.
I also added slices of the avocado to my Tortilla Soup which added such a fresh aspect to the dish.
If you get a chance to peruse and visit this site, conside ordering a box for yourself or a friend. CHRISTMAS is coming so this would also be a great option. Forget about grapefruit or dried fruit or nuts just this once and order some avocados! YUM!
Thank you Paradise Grove for allowing me to sample these delicious avocados.Labels: avocado, california, Paradise Grove review, product review, review
