Don't think we're back in college or high school and pulling a prank on a buddy because Flavor Bombs are not a joke. :-) These little packages are definitely the BOMB. Hee hee. This product is definitely up my alley since I enjoy cooking and more specifically, meals that nowadays do not take too much time. I love using herbs, especially fresh herbs since I can get them for super cheap at our local store but I am still learning how to store them and therefore they spoil before I can use them.
Flavor Bombs are a great concept. They can be used to start a dish or to finish a dish. Each "bomb" contains 2 ounces of an herb mixture that comes frozen. It is thawed before hand or thawed while cooking and any remaining herb mixture can be refrigerated for 3 to 5 days. There are five different flavor bombs:
These are usually diluted with oil, broth, or water and each flavor bomb serves 4 or more. Take for example our weeknight grilled chicken. I love grilling simple chicken and then drizzling a vinaigrette for a flavor punch so without all the chopping and prep, I used the Rosemary Flavor Bomb to drizzle over the chicken and finished it off with a balsamic reduction.
Whoa. So good! It was easy and tasted fresh.
I used the Soffritto Flavor Bomb in black beans since we eat it a lot. It is a base to Latin American dishes so I loved this option. The Basil Flavor Bomb I used in an Italian pasta dish called Timbale. It added a nice herb kick to the dish and I was definitely pleased.
